Dry time varies as compliant solvent sealers in 18 states need to have 40% non-volatile solvent in the formula. We did not like this formula as in any over applications, this formula, would take longer to dry than water-based protectors. We discontinued this formula and do not sell Maxim Fine Fabric in 18 low VOC states. The formula we sell in the other 32 states does not have any non-volatile solvents so it dries very quickly.

Label directions: "Personnel in the exposure area wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and proper fitting respirator with organic vapor cartridge. • Turn off air conditioning and heating units and remove all ignition sources. • Do not aerosolize, use a low-pressure airless sprayer with less than 60 psi."

No, we have been making and selling Advanced Protector for years. Dupont stopped licensing the "Teflon" name about 18 months ago so it is no longer called Advanced Protector with Teflon. There was no formula change. Ten years ago the largest national brands were Advanced Protector with Teflon, Scotchgard, and Maxim Advanced made by 3 distinct companies. Today we manufacture and distribute the 2 largest carpet protector national brands left: Maxim Advanced and Advanced Protector.

We also sell 6 other fabric and carpet protectors. We believe that the fabric and customer should choose the protector used, which is why we have several choices. We have 5 water based fluorchemical protectors, 2 water based polymeric protectors, and 1 solvent based fluorochemical. All of them have various strengths in terms of soil and stain resistance as well as water and oil repellency.

And you really believe the carpet cleaning companies are going to carry 5 different protectors on their van or even have them in their shop.

Before Dupont decided to share the Teflon brand with our industry, the product was sold as Zepel.

Cleaners who tried to sell "Zepel" instead of "Scotchgard" fought a losing battle until the Teflon name became available.

All ancient history now of course.

Talking to Bob or I is really a lot like having an interview with Mel Brooks' "2000 Year Old Man"

The Maxim SOS is the only one that can be sold in Australia. Two of the products, including Maxim SOS, are for wool for in-plant operation. Two of the products are for specialty fabrics. One of the products is for green applications. Two are for the truck (90% of our sales): Maxim Advanced for nylon, Advanced Protector for triexta and synthetic upholstery. Choose the best for your market. We also sell about 15 to 20 pre-sprays. Choose the best for your market.

Prius or horse and buggy fleet?
Since we don't have to handle gasoline, it doesn't get listed in the SDS book. That book is what the inspectors flip through to see what they can fine you for.

They compare your book with the chems you actually have, and fine you for anything missing from the book.

If you use anything with a scary label they inspect your safety program for chemical handling procedures and fine you for anything they find out of place there.

Recently they told us about new regulations for on-location use of products that have toxic or corrosive pictograms that would require an on site eye wash station so heavy it would require two people to move.

We found other products.
