Quick overview:

1:00 pm 21st Century Fabric Problems – and Solutions Jim Pemberton This is a section of Jim's advanced training course dealing with higher value and care-sensitive fabrics. Because many cleaners fear these, they not only lose the (higher-priced) cleaning, but potentially lose that customer to the "expert" that knows how to clean them.

3:00 pm Rugs Unraveled – The Best Technical Tricks for Cleaning Lisa Wagner this is a section of Lisa' course that will be modified to go over the most problematic rugs we commonly see today. The tips will be on how to recognize, qualify and clean to make more money handling them.
Thursday, June 28th

8:30 am Danger for Cleaners and Restorers – Are You Violating Privacy Laws? Patrick Moffett This is directed toward anyone that goes into a home or business and sees or handles anything that can be considered private information. Since guys take photos of jobsites or items, and sometimes just like to gossip, it will be nice to know where an upset customer can cost you a lot of money.

10:00 am Contract Killing – A Lawyer’s Insight On How To Avoid The Biggest Litigation Traps In The Cleaning Industry. Ed Cross Ed Cross would be worth listening to if he was talking about drain cleaning, but since he may be the lawyer that knows the most about our industry (including having actually attended certification courses) he absolutely knows how to draw up a contract that will keep you out of trouble. He's offering some simple contracts to cleaners and restorers at no cost, and has a line of low-cost contracts you can buy and save a lot of money over having custom contracts written.

1:00 pm Chemistry of Clean – Making the Right Choice for Every Situation Mike Kerner Mike has a reputation as a chemist that can make complex chemistry easily understandable. Since there are a lot of new products that work in very specific ways, it will be nice to know whether we're paying for glitz or grit when we buy the latest super solution.

2:00 pm Stink Bomb! – The New Science of Deodorization Jim Pemberton and Lisa Wagner I'm guessing I'll learn something here, and they've decided that this should be a fun topic to discuss. It might be the number one reason we're called, so this is another potential money-maker.

3:00 pm Trade Show and Networking The tradeshow will be small compared to Vegas, but each vendor has a unique niche and product knowledge that is worth tapping into.

Friday June 29th

8:00 am Blood-Borne Pathogens – What Cleaners NEED to Know Patrick Paluga Restorers know they have to have BBP training, but the regulations apply to anyone that cleans up any bodily fluid. whether regulated or not, I want to know what our techs need to know about any situation that would affect their health.

10:00 am Stone/Tile/Grout – Tricks to Identify Problems Before They Bite Bryan Thomson This presentation will cover what I think is most important to rug, upholstery or tile and stone cleaning; being able to find a problem before getting started. That's the time a problem is either an extra-profitable add-on and before it turns into a negative attempt to explain what happened. Bryan will follow the seminar with a hands-on demo to show the low-stress steps to getting started in hard surface cleaning.
1:30 pm Industry Changes – Finally They Matter Graham Bedwell and Tony Wheelwright There are a lot of icebergs floating around. We'll learn what we can't see from following the bulletin boards.

2:00 pm Dye Stick Color Repair – The Profitable Way Tony Wheelwright This program is to teach profitable color spot repair. This doesn't replace using liquid dyes, but in many situations it may be a better option, easier, and again, profitable.

Notice that the theme here is practicality. The seminars are geared toward helping you make money or helping you avoid losing money. It won't hurt that you'll have a better base of contacts after attending either.

The Grand Sierra is a pretty cool place as well, so would be a nice treat for those that bring family members.
