That comment alone is inspiring. Not to draw attention from you but I think we are alike. You have had to fight for everything in your life. You are where you are today because you are a fighter. For god sakes you use the bonsor and I am the opposite of you with my anthesis the Bonsor. Tried cleaning a closet with a zipper? ( **** you haw jowl) I can do it and I love the product. Going to give a Monahan paragraph break
But what you do is exceptional. You could (no judgments) make any tool work. Thats your personality. Not kissing ass but I love you man and you are a testament to the human spirit (read it before but never used it). If carpet cleaner did half of what you do we would have customer for life...amazed
I'm honoured everybody has so much interest. I worked in IT when I was un school and stayed there until 2012 when I stated this caper with my Bissell Big Green BG10 and a Kirby. I found TEMF first; though that was for the better because I was fairly obnoxious really. Something I lean red to fix to pretty quick. I kind of knew support was going to be hard to come by. At home in Australia there as very little in the form of discussion groups at the time. I joined and fell out with the local Australian Carpet Cleaners Discussion page. Principally because the group did not really permit free discourse.
Australia is very conservative about the chemistry of carpet cleaning because of the prevalence of wool. In reality Australians payloads of cash to training bodies and leave with certificates and no practical skills.
It has come a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG way very fast. James Bethel started a Facebook counterpart in 2014 and while initially very conservative today the group is wide open. Just as it should be and kudos to him for doing a few hard things.
1. Changing his mind.
2. Allowing the group a very wide latitude with very little intervention and NO interference.
3. Welcoming in diverse views
But at the time, within the web group if you mentioned using a reducer to remove a red stain, the thread would go supernova.
I sent loads of thread supernova over a time with the hope of showing it needed change, Today The Australian Carpet Cleaners Page is a great source of in and out of the box thinking on all kinds of jobs. A broad wealth from a tiny nation. but I digress.
Then I found Mikeys boards.... Oh man. Nirvana.
I have been told Mikey has quite the epic hard arse troll at one point. But thats NOT the dude I met here.
I mean in the first week we had a 16 page exchange over why he needs to stope using clem fan vacuums for pre-vac carpet. And I have a Bissell and maybe if I scrounge a 175. And he's engaging with me. And then he buys a Kirby and tags me in this video. Just on my say so goes looking for one and now that i think of it he got it at a pot farmers place from a barn.
And he loves it..... He loves it he says thanks; he's been in business 28 years has multiple vans, has a discussion group, 1 to 1 contact with manufacturers. and he says my info is helpful.
Then as time goes on..... I see that Mike is actually a pretty humane dude. I watched him be genuinely good to Mardie who was really out of step with the rest of the group. And it wasn't until Mardie made stupid waves much later did the board ban him. And not after Mikey being more than tolerant of the problems. And then there was a story that Mikeys own home has been cleaned by a struggling RugDoctor owning startup simply because he and his wife believe in hard work and giving back to starters. That touched me I was that guy.
So I hung out here and after my marriage self destructed I bought a better porty (my Bissell being my first) and within three months got a 360i too.
My 360 came with two carpet heads. The three shoe, metal swoop default head and a similar head with nylon brushes. U found the brush head amazing... Just amazing. I literally - can - deliver any carpet you like to whatever standard the best machine can given an allowance for the slower extraction performance. So now all the hard work and chemical tweaking I've used to get results with a Bissell has the best extracting equipment on the market doing the recovery.
I grew pretty fast. I now do am average of 4 jobs a day 5 days a week but have had trouble getting a weekend to my self for a month now.
I have 4 porties (including the Bissell), 1 x vac booster, 1 x diesel heater, 2 x AW29 wands, 2 x 360 RJE's with multiple heads, 2 x generators, 3 x upholstery tools, colour coded hoses, printed uniforms, 20 treatments in a portable chems bag, Hyfroforce, Small spotter, Bissell spotter, 4 x Kirbys, 1 x Duplex wand
I sell via Facebook and that really my only advertising platform outside word of mouth. In my local population of 2100 I am Whyalla's most recommended cleaner and as of March 7 2017 I have 83 5 Star Reviews.
I don't see using a porty as an excuse for a lesser result. If the customer choses me they don't settle. So thats how it is. I like to be at the top of my game. An A player as much as I can muster.
