It’s been years since I’ve been here and of course I need something. The starter still works but the solenoid cracked. I can push the crack together and it starts. It needs to be replaced. I’ve searched but come up with nothing. These may be the wrong numbers but it’s what I can see. I don’t feel like pulling it. I called the engine builder and they said the part is obsolete. Thanks for any help.

I got a starter from Orielys back when it was schucks auto parts. Old 1980's hydracat with an onan engine. I couldn't believe it but he matched the numbers and found it.

Made in Mexico... did you search in Spanish?🤗

No. I did find it remanufactured but I prefer new. I’ve not had good luck with remanufactured starters. I repaired the crack and it seems fine. I will pick up the reman just in case and I already removed the panel blocking the rear bolt so it will be less than an hour to replace it.

Starters are manufactured to fit a certain solenoid rather than solenoids being designed and manufactured to to fit specific starters if that makes sense. In short if your in good with your local auto parts guy you might be able to go thru a few catalogs and parts on the shelf and find a solenoid that is the same as what you have. It might be to a starter for something totally different but it has the same solenoid. To give you an example of what I mean. I wanted chrome door handles for my 2007 shelby mustang. Ford didnt have um but i foumd the exact same handles that a were on my mustang in chrome on a lexas bought um and were an exact fit. In short as lomg as the starter is good if you're resourceful enough you dhould be able to find an exact fit solenoid.

My wife has been in retail auto parts for 35+ years.
Finding those guys with that capability is rare now a days.
Most couldn't sell or find a part if the computers went down.

Sorry to hear that. Fortunately for me my local napa store still can. Ive had odd ball stuff ive had them find in the past a part that comes to mind is willeys jeep motor mounts. I didnt need um for a jeep. As a matter of fact they told me that's what they were off of mine were used as motor frame to main frame mounts on a 1983 steamgeni hydro2 truck mount. In this business if your going to keep your stuff running. "ya gotta know a guy"
