When you're wearing nylon/rubber gloves while working? I had to replace some padding this morning on a job and I was wearing some black rubber gloves. I didn't know how much your body temp changes when your hands are not breathing. The sweat was dripping off me like a leaking shower head. Freaking weird

I see some of you guys on you tube swinging that wand. Screw that! I can't overheat like that again

I cleaned pool tiles with acid today wearing pvc gloves and had to remove them every half hour or so and dump sweat out of them

not sure it made me sweat more than normal otherwise though..or how it could..I'm usually soaked head to toe when working in the summer

I typically wear gloves for 90% of the job and take them off when after I'm done wanding or until they break, but I don't think it's nearly as hot here.

When I was in wrestling I would wear a sauna suit while I ran. There would literally be like a gallon of sweat that I would pour out when I was done.

On my one house for the year yesterday hopefully, I was sweating bullets. Couldn’t hardly keep my glasses on and sweat out of my eyes. No gloves. I put gloves on when I’m rolling hose up.

Yeah it’s tough wearing gloves while working in the summer.
Gotta practice it though for sanitation reasons. Some of these homes have germs galore.

For the body, polyester/cotton shirt/tee are best. 100% polyester works great but may not feel all comfortable.
100% cotton shirt/tee is best for comfort and wears nicely last long. Although you’ll be soaked in the heat of the summer. Cotton does regulate your body temperature best. Landscapers use cotton shirts tees cause it keeps them cooler in the heat.

It's going to be 119 here in Redding on Saturday. I'm limiting myself to one to two jobs per day. Then spending the rest of the day in my pool or at the lake in my boat. Good times.

Geez, that’s Phoenix weather! Thats nuts that
far north, but I read why. It’s still crazy 🤪
Yeah, it it doesn't really cool down at night much either. I'm a believer in air conditioning.

It's just myself and Ryan for the next few days. Devon and Candice are in Santa Barbara doing school orientation. So many mixed feeling I'm having sending my boy away. I know he can't wait, but I can.

It's 49° here tonight. Other than my sauna I don't know if I've ever been in 119° heat.

I feel your pain Damon, but it’ll be worth it.
Be glad he’s not going out of state. It took this grandkid only 3 yrs to do it, it was Long and short even for grandpa!! Even I have her on 360 and hated her driving back and forth when she did come home, which was often after the first year. You know it’s not far from Norman to OKC. She landed a job right out of college😃 One more year her brother goes🙁

Wasn't it only in the 80s in Virginia Lakes....
Upper 90s with no shade until after 3, no breeze, and buggie as well.

Tools and fasteners were scorching hot and we had to make extra effort to keep them out of the sun.

I came home last night and inside my house it was 91°.

Paula's in Florida this week so we didn't leave the HVAC on

53Hrs 35Min 21Sec….

Is EXACTLY how long it took me to successfully cross Death Valley, this past week, solo, and off road-from furthest point north, to Badwater Basin- the lowest point in North America!
To put how much a successful completion of this project means to me in words in a post is simply too difficult.

This adventure has been a focus of mine since last year, when I was unable to complete it….due to adverse weather conditions and, in retrospect, I probably wasn’t yet recovered from six months of chemo.

I spent the last six months completely focused on my training, my gear, and several scouting trips to Death Valley- a place and wilderness I respect so much.
My buddy Kent Keeler and I showed up the week before and scouted several areas where we were certain I’d have to alter course from previous projects in the area.

I was as ready as I could be- and yet all the usual challenges were there- extreme heat (123F at finish), winds, super difficult terrain and tricky nighttime navigation. I literally drank 75 liters over the course of the 53 hours, and was strategically resolved to be patient when I needed a break. And the terrain here is never forgiving or predictable- a mix of everything from deep sand to endless boulders to wet salt. This place is a brutal as it is beautiful.

I’ve spent my entire adventure career, crossing the worlds largest deserts and the coldest reaches of the planet- but this place is different.
Everything had to go exactly as planned for this to work out, the stars had to line up…and I’m so grateful they did!

To be in the desert alone, in between my resupplies…just being present, was a gift. No music, no podcasts….just being hyper aware, that I get to be in this amazing place again, doing what I love to do
❤️

Lots more stories to come
🤗
