He'll say: the crud/lint/other you don't catch with the paint filter- is cancer to the tank.

I thought it was just the ph of the waste water. That surprises me that some lint/mud/crud would do anything

Sometimes it's all the foreign metal pieces you pick up. If you look at a tank that has failed, you will see a lot of pinhole leaks where the metal has worn thin and in the middle will be a piece of metal. Pennies, dimes, paper clips, staples,etc

An aluminum tank will continue to look like new if it gets a good fifteen second rinse down after dumping. You don't even need to wash out all of the lint, just get the pH close to neutral.

Aluminum tank has failed = total slob in charge.

It's not that the blower doesn't make noise, you just can't hear it over that noisy engine. The x-drive or even a cds, you don't hear the trucks engine, which is why you can hear the blower.

I wish they would give me one. I have owned Hydramaster Cds's before and they always worked well. This one looks even better. I like the ability to adjust the speed of the unit. The only issue I see with this is that it is designed for one vehicle only. I wonder if they are going to look at Dodge pro masters or Mercedes sprinters.

They aren't allowed to until HM gives them permission. So no they shouldn't talk about it until then but ... why hasn't HM given permission? Just wondering. Your 575 is the top of the line HM machine but I was hoping the xDrive would be a CDS to blow away all other CDS's ...or comparable to the upgraded Butler. If anyone knows more would love to hear about it.

Yes I believe it is an exclusive part. Someone said, don't remember which HM guy, they have several patents on the alternator/generator.

apparently, not enough room to run a drive shaft into the cab area in an appropriate area to hook up with the blower. Which is why they went with the generator idea in the first place, or so I've been told.

Not allowed to put a hole in firewall was what I heard. Also don't want holes in unibody frame for exhaust of slide ins I think.
The ProMaster Van is less restrictive for installing slide ins was what I was told.

The New Xdrive should be available in any of the cargo/dock trucks. The reason that it was created is because the new vans from Ford, Nissan, ect do not allow anything to penetrate the firewall of the engine compartment. Doing so will void the warranty on the entire vehicle. Therefore CDS type units will never be able to be used in the newer style vans, slide ins are not a problem. Also I believe the engines of the ford vans sit transverse in the engine compartment instead of the traditional inline placement, making a shaft connection difficult but not impossible. I don't know about the placement on the Nissans.
Cleanco, Hydromaster, and Saphire are all still making the traditional CDS unit that we are accustomed to but they are only available for the Chevy and GMC cargo vans. They will also fit into a dock truck but will require more tweeking of the PTO to make them work.
It has been a mad scramble to find a solution to the penetration problem in the newer vans and it will be a problem going forward. The new style vans are not going anyplace soon, Chevy has said they will discontinue the Express van but have pushed that date off several times as they are selling the vans as fast as they can make them. Last I heard 2020 or so for the final Express van, but who really knows.

Control of the Engine computer (or allowing someone else to reprogram) is also an issue. I'm pretty sure it is only the front wheel drive vans that the motor is transverse mounted but I am not certain.

I think Hydramaster said they looked hard at the Dodge also with more problems trying to mount the generator. As well accepted as the Ford van was right off the bat and all the different versions of it available was probably part of it too. Besides who knows who will own Chrysler next year or the year after. It is a pretty good bet Ford will be around for at least the next 20 years. GM? Dodge? who knows.

I'll keep buying government motors and clutch drives until I can't anymore. But when that happens the x drive seems like the next logical step (unless something else comes out that's better by then)

Maybe Cobbs will come out with theirs real soon. A year and a half ago it was in the final stages of development, gotta be pretty near bug-free and ready for deployment by now! Haven't heard a word from the beta testers though, must be the usual NDA....

I like innovation....

I like a number of things they are doing here...

I just am not a fan of aluminum tanks....

I have a number of friends with aluminum tanks ripping them out and welding bottoms in them, and other patches....

I don't need crazy heat, but really like the heat I am getting out of my units now with the high heat option, and I like a heat exchanger I do not have to worry about cleaning out the fins....

I will drive a chevy yet....don't mind it at all....

Again, great innovation taking place here though overall....but Stainless....give me quality stainless...

Bullcrap. We have seen on this board, failures in Aero tech's stainless steel tanks. Wash your aluminum tank out when you dump it and it will last you a lifetime.

I think you may be mistaken, Butler and Aerotech's tanks are forever quality. You may be confusing Aerotech with another manufacturer. Aluminum tanks crack and corrode. Why would you buy a truckmount that needed to be rinsed out daily?
