Do you realize that the cost of living where you live is much higher than other parts of the country?

:?:[/quote:2yffxlk5]

Really? I had no idea.[/quote:2yffxlk5]

Do you think your prices are really that high considering the cost of living in Santa Cruz?

Mike.

If you were not in carpet cleaning, what would you be doing ...

To make a living?

If you were wealthy and didn't need to work?

Have you ever considered letting Paula man that second truck? it might ease the "I want Mike" protests from the customers as well.

Paula has the personality, manners, charm and brains, she'd be a shoe-in.

Take care,
Lisa

If you were asked by a newbie with $10,000 to bankroll, what would be the best way to allocate their money to build a successful business, how would you advise them?

-What equipment to purchase?
-What marketing and business structure to invest in?
-What expenditures to avoid or delay?

Take care,
Lisa

-A nice used van and reliable slide in with a minimum 45 blower. A upright vacuum, a 175 and a air path.

-Attend SFS or spend some time with the BRC boys.

No YP or Val Pak crap. Instead use Hand delivered flyers ( preferably by your cute hungry looking family), lots and lots of door knocking and pray that your local retailers dont already commit to someone who knows their stuff.

And wow the living crap out of each and every person who lets you into their home. Leave the carpet dry and spot free. Use runners and booties. Groom the pile, let them see you dust the base boards or clip that stray yarn. Spend enough time sincerely bonding with the homeowner. Do lots of freebies the first couple of years for the right people.

And so on and so forth.

Would your 2nd truck be a Vortex?

No.

Most likely a diesel van or sprinter with a slide in.

Would you run the truck with the vortex or the slide-in?

And, if the vortex has been so important to your success, why would you buy a slide-in?[/quote:2j2cwq5y]

I dont need two V's in my market. Not yet anyways.

I would run the slide in doing uph, stone and pleasing my loyal Mrs Pifts would would shit can me if I were to send anyone else out.

I have a lot of those.

I wanted to be a Crop Duster when I was a little kid.

If I could do anything not carpet Cleaning related?

I would run a six truck OP business in Kauai.

If I didn't need to work?

I would be riding my Suzuki all over the world. Meeting up with Paula at various resorts. I would also hire someone to deal with all you bozos who cant remember to save your passwords.

Sure I would. but I'd piss of all the advertisers and get fired after two articles.

Ask Tony about the association, that's his baby.

Hopping in late as usual.

What types of retailers would your main target be in a start up?

She would never do it.

She HAD to when I broke my leg a few years back and hated every minute of it.

But she was real good at it. She did a $1400 day all by herself!

was there really a stain on the Hot Seat where Vawters Depends leaked last week???

His poor wife called to complain.

She also said that Vacuum shirt of his has turned yellow in the pits and reaks of cheap tequila.

She hates my guts.

MANY multi-truck owners and owner/op's say they would never hire an experienced tech, because they come with bad habits or thinking they know it all already. Do you feel that way as well, or would you hire an experienced tech?

Personally, I know that many excellent techs give it a go on their own and fall flat because they are not nearly as good at business as they are at cleaning. I'd hire one of these guys and pay them a good wage in aheartbeat, how about you?

Take care,
Lisa

tell us yore fav chems!

PS, piss away, protector, T&G chems etc!

I like Chem Spec's Pre Kleen and Fibermaxx's Powermaxx for pre sprays.

I love HB's Powr-Pak for wool and uph.

Either Hardball's or Vac A Way's water based protectors.

I use Vac A Way's ENC for my main shampoo and spotter.

I always have a tube of CTI Pro Solve gel in my pocket. If Hel Gel were available in a tube I would use that instead.

Oxy Blaster and Restore for tile.

And gallons of Sally's 30 vol.
