Liability Insurance Questions from Agent

So I was looking to get a quote today from an agent and was asked for my Social Security number. I refused to give it. Has anyone ever been asked this?

No, but some run your credit to help determine your rates.

They will need your ss # or a tax ID number

Yeah, I gave them my ID number and they wanted my SS# as well. I told them fat chance. I have had insurance since I started in 2000 and never been asked for that nor would I give it.

because....the vast majority of insurers today will access your credit report, and assess you a rate according to your number. I guess that if you don't have perfect credit, they assume you'll probably make a few claims.

I hate insurance! I've paid them over $50,000 and never had a claim.
