Jim..I believe getting older is way way
Better than Not getting older
I still feel like I’m in my 20’s, until I start hanging out with 20-year-oldsAs long as Bob Vawter and Keith Richards remain, I have hope for tomorrow.
Seriously, I hit 61 in a few weeks, and never feel it ...until I look in a #(%&* mirror.
You young kids have a fun Independence Day. I'll be somewhere beyond cell range by sunrise tomorrow.
Yeah, but how many will open their eyes in the morning?I always say............when ever your eyes open in the morning...........it's going to be a good...........day!
Dang, first time I met Lee Pemberton was in Fresno CA, fall of 1979. (Home of the maker of that davenport.)
Fresno was the New Jerusalem of the cleaning industry in those days.
Why was that?
what crook lived there during the '70s
Not a crook....a brilliant, likely bipolar, megalomaniac, with the speaking skills of a televangelist and the cold blooded calculation of a robber baron who saw the cleaning industry as deserving a better place in the business world than where it was placed.

Went to Fresno to Steam Services to hear Lee P. speak on disaster restoration. (This was when Steve Brandt was president of Steam Services and before he became president of Hydramaster.) It was my first CC class and this 29 year old was very hungry for info. (Started my biz when about 23 with a Von Schrader--fun times but very little cc info was available.) So glad I went. Was great to rub elbows with other cleaners, etc. Learned about Grandi Groomers and much other good stuff. Lee was great in the class and we even had lunch together one day. Ed was crazy as usual. It was fun hearing Ed talk, too. I remember something about the "peanut butter method" of cleaning carpets, LOL! Ed was attempting to divest us all of "steam cleaning religion" or something like that. Even Desk Jockey (Richard) took the same class when Lee went his way during his educational travels. Hey Jim P.! Did dad have you working yet? What in the heck were you doing in Fresno California?

When I first got into the business we were using scrubbers and wet vacs. We used to always give the little kids rides on the scrubbers. Probably get sued if we did that today.Yes. I first assisted him in cleaning carpet in a commercial job in 1968; mostly filling and emptying buckets of solution and being a general "gopher". Sitting on his scrubber to add weight on difficult floor stripping jobs was my favorite though.
Ummmm...I can't even remember when I was 61.....of course same thingAs long as Bob Vawter and Keith Richards remain, I have hope for.... tomorrow.
