If the customer doesn't think the carpets are the cleanest carpets ever they contact us.
We return and reclean if required at our expense. We take photos.
If the client is still unhappy then
The client engages another carpet cleaner at their expense and they reclean the carpets and photos are taken
The photos from both cleans are viewed.
A double refund is given if there is an improvement
In my experience this has never happened to me as customers are delighted with the clean.

Most clients if not all will not pay for second cleaning. You‘d had to have done a lousy job the first time and again a second time.

You seriously believe this is a good idea??

Relying on photos...ok. you ever heard of photoshop? I can make things look very clean or not so great in minutes...these kind of gimmicky things will not gain anyone credibility.

I know a guy who offers a similar deal on advanced stain treatments

"If a competitor can remove a stain to both our satisfaction that I failed on" (bonded inserts and patches don't qualify)

Just clean it right the first time. Ixnay all the games.
My last complaint was 12 Years ago.

The client said the carpet didn't look right. I returned to a perfectly clean and groomed carpet. The client had expected wand marks as she'd had in the past with other cleaners.

All my reviews are 5 star with incredibly positive comments.

Your inference I don't clean carpets right the first time is rejected

Your inference I need a gimmick to gain credibility is rejected.

I have cleaned carpets for 32 Years.

I have set up 6 highly successful carpet cleaning companies that have dominated their markets and one of those Companies with 17 Technicians.

I am selling my latest successful company and moving to a large City.

I believe a structured and cohesive marketing campaign that promotes a double your money back guarantee will give prospective clients peace of mind the Job will be done to their satisfaction.

You are free to think of my business life as one of non credibility and needing gimmicks to survive. The facts show otherwise.

All large companies use gimmicks. Your double your money back warranty is a gimmick. Tell us again why you don't need gimmicks?

I don't see it as a gimmick.

I see it as a money back guarantee.

Is a money back guarantee a gimmick?

If so you need to read the definition of a gimmick.

I and it seems like others here as well consider it a gimmick and feel that clients would too. Therefore, would not do it in our business. However.......

If that's what you do and it works for you and your clients- Power to you.

If you feel (hopefully know!) that it actually brings more business and or enhances your business perception with your existing and new clients. That's great. Keep it up, as actual clients' opinion, is what really counts.

It's an idea

I've floated it with existing clients and my marketing guys.

I might do it or I might not.

I posted here because you guys are the Best of the Best.

Feedback is gratefully appreciated.

It is a variation on a simple money back guarantee which is the Law.

If goods or services supplied are not fit for purpose then the client has redress including a refund. However we know if the client has paid then less than reputable companies will simply ignore them and redress is too costly and time consuming in cases such as these.

No, a money back guaranty offers protection to the client. Most money back guarantees require the company to come back to rectify the situation and if the client can't be satisfied, the original fee is refunded. We all understand that. Going further with this double your money back, if you pay for another carpet cleaner to come, take and compare pictures, etc, just sounds gimmicky to me. Personally, I would look for another idea.

John,
I assume the offer is a client confidence builder, that demonstrates how strongly you feel about and stand behind the quality of your work. Which is good. It feels however, like "over trying," which does not stand for confidence.

Also, the procedure is cumbersome. IMHO most clients will not go through the hassle. And if they do, it may prove to be problematic.

In our experience, all most clients really want is someone that will show up on time, clean to the best of their ability, take the time and make an effort and handle complaints (in the unlikely event) promptly and gracefully.

That's only my opinion. I may be wrong. Try it.

P.S. I hope this is not too cryptic: Lee is just being Lee. He can't help it.

Just curious it sounds like by your post you’ve done exceptionally well, why would you now change what has always worked for you?

Sounds like too much hoopla for a customer to really feel secure about their transaction. It’s just complicated and unlikely
