I don't see any noticeable change in performance if you moved it further away. Just keep in mind the hoses that connect them together are very expensive if you have to purchase longer ones

Nice Set up.
With our cold winters....we would be dead ducks trying to even go from place to place in our temps with an uninsulated box truck.
I think we actually would have a very difficult time as I have discussed with Mikey even operating in our area with one.
Too much rural crazy areas and DOT around here....we would be pulled over weekly (They have check points all over the place here just to pull you over)

We shouldn't even need to have the same requirements as semi trucks, due to the fact that our setups way about 2000lbs UNDER the GVWR sticker on the truck.
IF I had the craziness to run a business cleaning carpet in your weather, My setup would be the exact same as yours, even the same wrap

Nice setup Matt. Did you have the shelves in your trailer? I’ve thought about a box, but I honestly don’t want to go up and down the step. I also put auto scrubbers in mine.
I had some home made wood shelves in my trailer. As for the up and down step...my knees sometimes get grumpy on that. How big is your auto scrubbers and What size is your current trailer?

Do you run your TM out the side door? Any issues having it that far up in the trailer and not over the axles? Do you carry freshwater? Yes, I run it out the side door. But my reel sits in the door and the machine sits to the left same way as side door. I do carry 120 gal. fresh water tank. No issues whatsoever with swaying. I can even pull it with my 18 Honda Ridgeline easy. But I pull it with 03 Avalanche mainly.

If I had auto scrubbers, I'd keep the trailer and separate the carpet machine and scrubber machines with a box truck and trailer. But to not worry about stepping up and down and still be able to pull the trailer, have you considered the van/10ft box truck? It's just as low as a van.6/14 tandem trailer. 2things you won't miss if you put your tm in a box truck:
1. Going through tires like a kid eating candy
2. Backing down any super steep driveways or looking for a place to turn around if you accidentally missed a road.

I am 99% commercial obviously. I only do residential as an accommodation. I prolly do 70% floors. If I did residential, I’d prolly have the tall Dodge or Ford van. My trailer Does go through the tires like crazy. Living in OKC, the landscape allows for trailer pulling even in residential streets.
Then your setup sounds good.

you should put a hoist in there like @Jim Martin did, I think it is a pretty cool idea myself. The first time you used it I think it would put a smile on your face not having to left heavy equipment up into your truck.

That's an awesome idea. So far, the ramp is working for me. Whenever it gets to be more of a pain to pull that heavy ramp out, I'll be purchasing one.

I'm working on reconfiguring my current setup. What is the best way to bring my vaccum ports closer to my machine? Currently I hook up to the ports off my waste tank.

Sch 40 PVC will handle the vac pressures ...lt wt, easy to work with, inexpensive
keep the bends/angles to a minimum and where/if elbow 90s are needed, be sure to use long sweep type

I have a 25’ 2.5” hose permanently attached to my waste tank lid. So when I pull up to a job, I just pull out the hose, and my waste tank is 25’ closer to the job
