Unfortunately I see a lot of this too. I hit it with the crb. At least they can see I did all I can.

If you handle it right they start feeling sorry for you trying to fix it.

That's why I go thru the areas before hand and point out things I see. Sometimes customers see it as a excuse and pass on my services...............in denial............SO FOOK DEM ALL!

These were all taken during the pre-cleaning walk (you can see the cheerios)...I did dry groom out the big pooling area to show them what I was talking about.
I was pointing out all the problems and explained what can and cannot be changed.

I ended up doing the job and did use the CRB too. On carpets like this nothing really will make a big difference...

I have a 10 story apt bldg like that. They started to put poly rugs in because it was cheaper, then realized they were almost uncleanable. They switched back to reasonable quality nylon, which cleans like a dream.

Ya there's only so much you can to. Commercial brushes on a 10 inch crb will make a dent but walking on it just crushes it back out.

The truth hurts, and whether or not they can accept it is out of your control.

They will understand why it can't be "cleaned away" if you can get them understand that it is not dirt/soil that is causing it to look like that.

One would think that the manufacturers of such sh!t carpet would do themselves a favor and stay away from snow white carpet.

I have a building about 15 years old now. Very high end, suites go for multi-millions and when it was built, they installed white wool carpets at $75 per yard, then hired a guy to sculpt borders in every suite. It pooled so dramatically, it looked like it had been water damaged. Most owners eventually got rid of it. I only have one suite left with it and it looks terrible. The wool cleans nicely but can't do anything about the pooling.

you need to convince her of the nap reversal, which is caused by wear, with this demonstration.

Place a piece of 8x10 paper on one side of the dividing line of the nap damage. Place a round pencil or pen on top of the paper. Now with the palm of your hand roll the pen forward and back. Observe the direction of the paper movement. you will notice the paper moving in two directions with one direction being more prominent. show this direction to the customer. Now do the same steps on the other side of the dividing line and you will see the paper moving in the opposite direction.

The color of sometime is also determined by the angle at which light hits it---due to traffic the carpet nap is facing two different angles and that's why the carpet has two different shades.

ok Ill give the rest of the reason.
we all have one leg that is stronger then the other. this prominent leg will push the nap one way when we walk over the carpet in one direction and then this leg will push the nap the other direction when we walk the other direction.

this nap reversal also happens on wool.
