Has anyone put them to the test?

I have more experience with the Zipper as I did purchase 2 after the Vegas Experience show.

I had a little time with the CX -15 at the Experience fest. I did clean well.

The zipper cleans forwards and back, and it just fit the type of cleaning I am doing more....so I bought one unit....

Found out the first night on a nasty restaurant job that I liked it so much, I sent Erik Hiltz the maker a text in the middle of the night with my credit card and told him to get another one on the way.

Here was a couple videos of that job that sold me.

Again, I do not have enough experience with the CX -15 than this time in this video and a few times that same couple days on sample carpets.

And now we have the 4-head TRex Jr . . .

that was not available at Experience . . .

I think the Zipper will clean well ,

but I am not convinced about cleaning on the forward stroke . . .

I would like to see a back stroke with and without the back extraction port . . .

Now we need some very dirty carpet . . .

you have a glide in the front and a glide in the back...it is going to clean and dry no matter what direction you push or pull it...

all talk that you say about equipment and improvements... and you cant see this...or am I missing something......

I kind of agree with Larry on this. In marks video it doesn't look like its cleaning nearly as good on the front stroke.. I may be way off. I don't own one.

Still looks like a very cool tool.

The zipper will out clean/extract the cx in the forward pass for sure!

Jim;

The standard setting for rear glide on Zipper is 0.016 off the carpet . . .

This HAS to affect the extraction capability . . .

Surely you agree with that question !

I think it might clean better on the back stroke without the back extraction slot !

P.S. The Mytee Uphol. tool didn't meet my standards yet . .
I thought this tool did the best job @ the best price :
http://www.cobbcarpet.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76&products_id=5166

the thickness...0.016 ( a business card )..is where you set it...
setting that close to any type of carpet and with the head weight..as soon as you hook it up to a machine you can here it plant itself in both directions...... what you are referring to makes no since at all....

so no...there is no way I can agree to this...I have pounded mine since September...and in all the time I have cleaned carpets...I have never seen them as dry as I have with the zipper....

Your a smart guy...lots of good ideas..and that is what makes it obvious you are reaching here only to promote a product that you sell...because even I know that you know better then this....

The zipper does not need me or anyone else to promote it....It speaks for itself in both construction and cleanings..both forward and back it does a excellent job...with dry times that no other tool in this industry has been able to match........

With all due respect Larry, you are not the one who will give this (or any) tool the final stamp of approval. You are not a cleaner. You are very knowledgeable and I respect a lot of your insights a great deal but any tool with staying power will have to win over THE CLEANER.

That's exactly what the Zipper is doing as we speak. Everyone LOVES the Zipper. Don't hate. Erik has experienced cleaners RAVING about a tool, almost in unison.

The Zipper will be my next big purchase.

Do you guys want to know the limitations of tools offered to cleaners ???

or just wear the rose-colored glasses to view them all . . .

I evaluated lots of equipment over the course this last year . . .

At The Experience and ICE with hundreds of exhibitors and lots of new equipment . . .

IMO, almost all of them need some improvements . . .

It is just the nature of relatively small cleaning industry manufacturing . . .

Larry, armchair engineering is easy, I do it too. But when you say something like "surely it must...." that tells me that you are just guessing. Jim Martin on the other hand has one, has been using it for months and knows - he doesn't have to guess.

Dave ;

Ray Waits and I tested all the rotary wands, Zipper and various straight 14" wands at Experience,

with uniformly dirty carpet furnished by J2 in Las Vegas.

We used the same Hydramaster TM and hose hooked to all of them . .

We made one cleaning pass and judged the cleaning ability and dryness after that one stroke . . .

It was not scientific, but nonetheless a good field side by side comparison.

And while on the subject.
Larry, what kind of a tool is that upholstery tool you like.

Is it one that will not over spray (like the SS), no picture of other side, so I can't tell.
Can you provide pictures.

Not all of them needed improved...there were quite a bit that preformed exactly like they should of...and yes there were a few that could of used a tweak here and there...

But in all fairness...that was not for me to decide...not until as a cleaner who gets out there every day and deals with a ton of different variables can I honestly say how something works or what IMO needs to be done to maybe help it do better...

As far as the zipper...Eric has that thing dialed in so tight that no one can match the quality of the construction...the ability to clean and dry the way it does....Not even you......

old skool tech. jet in the chamber.

It all depends on how much upholstery you clean. If its infrequent then any tool will do.

If you're a specialist and you clean upholstery fairly regular, then you'll be happier buying something else even if it costs more.
