This is one I had to flush out. The browning got worse even after treating it with H2O2.

I came back to treat with OSR and claw it. I have no clue what it was. No pets or odor; I assumed it was from a cleaning prior. It felt gewy like gum.

Very rarely, maybe never does browning happen on synthetic fabric. The so called “browning” effect is leftover cleaning solution dried

The real browning is rotting the fibers on natural fabrics and wool. Totally different process is needed to treat it
jute backed nylon is still common here, I "think" USA lost access to cheap natural backing over Afghanistan or someplace similar

It's a more expensive, less durable backing than the synthetics that largely replaced it.
wrong, put a power stretcher on synthetic backing and watch it pull apart. Then try that with a natural backing

glue doesn't absorb into synthetic but rather coats, so synthetic backings delaminate way easier as well

I agree that jute was an installer's dream, very forgiving. However its affinity for water and Americans' new love of indoor pets rendered it a very troublesome weak link in the industrial scale of carpet production in the US.

Wait until you try and stretch water damaged jute and watch it come apart before your eyes.

Been over 20 yrs that I had brown out and that was either the home owners fault or prior cleaning. Now on my first time job new cust. I only use Carpet Details to adjust anything in the carpets. Never a problem. Just had a very large blood job. I just flooded the carpets with the CD and extracted was gone. No second return. It's not the same as prycon looks like it but better results. Happy no brown outs. jz

it doesn't appear Afghanistan was a significant exporter of jute in recent history.

instructor said "middle east, afghanistan etc"
dunno if true or not? Present a useless piece of trivia to me in passing and I'll remember 20 yrs later.. present something important and ADHD has me remembering trivia from 20 yrs ago

It's a powder no color . Can be used with extraction. I used it on wool area cpts with my vibe. Also great on furniture I spray it on and then extract it. Nothing works ALL the time but I'm using it more & more. Also no smell or odor

dont lift synthetic or natural backed carpets when wet

get carpet "dry" then float for complete dry down.

Unless wooden floor then thats normally more important than the carpet & underlay

in my experience jute backing was almost always a remove and replace on a wdr job...........not sure if it was ultimately age (like I said it was almost all old), the weakening, or the mold concerns

if you lift jute when wet your almost guaranteed shrinkage

lift synthetic when wet and the airmovers can delaminate it with flapping as it drys

So the answer to your question on number one rule:
-Get off your lazy ass, leave the vibrating buffer orbot whatever, and browning treatment sprayer in your truck and pull out your hoses and do another cleaning to rinse out the remaining crap you left behind and leave a fan behind.

Ok

Not to mention 19" to the door and a smart car sized blower
Yeah that too. My issues arose when I didn’t turn on my chem injection, sprayed protectant with non acid water, or have done urine work and because of the saturation of the pad some browning occurred. Encap juice really has been a life saver for these occasions.
