I'm still bringing this thing back up to date.

Installed an orifice that was never put on by the factory, yet was later included in the later models to improve building heat for the water. @Jim Martin and @Justin Legend Brands helped me find that problem

Discovered the top of the engine's exhaust pipe is glowing at full throttle. Noticed the plug wires are starting to fail, due to not being the original ones with the metal heat shield over them, which may be the cause of the pipe glowing if it's shooting unburned fuel in the exhaust. Otherwise, it's possibly the CAT, even though there's no back pressure noise or popping sound when the engine runs

So I ordered some spark plugs off amazon. Champion #404 the manual calls for. I received Rn12yc plugs that have 404 above that number on the box. Will those work or do i need to return them?

And the headers are glowing during a test today. I’m pulling off the muffler this weekend to check for any blockage

I "think" 404, 405, 407, etc are the part numbers.
go look at plugs hanging in lawn 'n garden equipment tune up aisle.
You'll see a 3-digit part numbers on the packaging and under it in tiny print will be the number that's on the plug

$3 bukz at O'Reilly

Woody, given that JD's other plugs are $6 and change, I'd give 'em a call and ask if that was an accounting error. (my guess it was)
$6.64 x 4 = $26.56

and if not an accounting error, ask what justifies $26 bukz for a common plug found on the shelf at O'Reilly's for $3 bukz

The total Bill $ for my Everest was $2635 parts and labor and my machine was down for 3days plus 2more days after they nearly ruined it by not installing the engine's water pump correctly, not tightening the oil filter, not tightening the vac/blower, and leaving several bolts elsewhere loose. So a total of 5 days lost, $2600 being pulled out of my account is a big loss. Average of $800/day X 3 days= $2400+$2600= $5100 lost. I didn't add in the 2 other days, because that was the expected original planned time they were scheduled to do the 2k hr service.

This is why I'm doing all the work myself on this Thermal Wave II. Jondon has lost all business from me on the service side. And if they keep screwing up on the supply side with sending parts and chems...they will be losing that part of business as well. I'm a very good and reliable customer.

I could've been cheap and told them just to do the timing belt and water pump and I'll do the rest. But I was busy and told them to do a full 2khr service while they have it in the shop for PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE! It almost ruined my machine with antifreeze and oil spraying out before I noticed it.

The sound after removal. Does it sound like there’s blockage in it?

I ran it this morning at full throttle without the CAT attached

The headers don’t glow and the temp was over 200F+ cooler

Are any of you idiots taking notes on my project for when your stuff breaks?

No.

Now here's something to keep you up at night.

Because you pulled out the Cat, your engine has less back pressure and will likely burn out a valve.

Put that in your notes.
I pulled out the Cat to see if the headers were still gonna glow. About 10min total. A new one was planned to be replacing this one so I'm not worried about burning a valve

New Plugs and wires, new fuel tap and fuel filter, the CAT reads proper temp of it hotter in and cooler out, yet the headers still glow after warm up on full throttle under full load 13hg.

What could be the other causes for the headers glowing?

Thanks to your updated manual…it showed where the plumbing I had currently .from my manual, was preventing the hot water to return back to the water box. And since my unit doesn’t have a solenoid, the hose #24 was routed to the pressure regulator so the water would stop moving.

And to complete the day even better…the headers didn’t overheat and glow during testing. I hope it stays that way. I’ll be burning extra clean gas for the next few tanks to make certain it stays that way

Thanks again @Justin Legend Brands

And @Jim Martin , your help was Greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks to your updated manual, The temp loss problem has finally been fixed. I have yet to find out if it can compete with the everest heat (I need to put it on a full day of work), and the headers did not start overheating with red glow today.

So this project is ready to be sent out to work. Thanks @Justin Legend Brands , and @Jim Martin
