I have no doubt that Joe's marketing system works ...it's usually the application that's the problem for most.

Wondering if any of you who are not on board with the "lowest price" coupon strategies would want to make an alternative room for more strategic marketing discussions.

Instead of the "Making More Money Room" moderated by Brian...

...it could be the "Actually Making More Money Room" moderated by a collective of "I'll be damned if I'm the cheapest price in town" business owners that use a strategic range of on-line and off-line campaigns to grow their business.

Just want to see if there are more than a few people tired of the Groupon and SEO-hack strategies and want to talk about how to build a real business with longevity.

If no one is interested, no big deal. I just wanted to see if anyone else is bored with this beside the usual suspects (myself included).

Just tossing the idea out there....

Lisa

You are exactly right. When times are tough the coupon cleaners suffer and in many cases are removed from the playing field. December and January were a little scarey, but February will probably be a record month. I take pride in market like this:

"If you're looking for the cheapest cleaner, or a cleaner who leaves your carpet dry then they walk out the door, then I respectfully ask you to call someone else. Here's the deal, ...."

This does a great job of weeding out the price hunters.

It's been working for me for 8 years. You are correct, different regions need to be marketed to differently. You have to know your market. However, it will NOT work if left sitting on your desk.

Yea the cry for a room was too much, I didn't believe it.

That girl worked us though, she didn't want a room, just a venue to bitch about Brian.

I did not hear or could I imagine that she wants to be the moderator for the room, just the idea of having it. I think she sees that the MMM room is not moderated in a similar way that other rooms are and is looking for more balance in the content. That is not to say the current MMM room is bad, just that it has a very narrow seeming agenda.

I think you're right Ken (like usual !gotcha! ) it's not about having her own room and certainly not by herself, but about balance in the exisiting room. She suggested multiple personalities involved in the room to achieve this greater balance. As you can probably gather, I'm disappointed with this current tunnel vision approach to coupon type marketing and also the in-thread scrapping and hijacking.

So many loved the concept of the previous room and then the re-implementation of the current room, but I, like Lisa and so many others feel like it's lost focus and moderation.

So many 'stand alone' and 'in-topic' questions and statments are often lost or passed over due to 2-3 main threads scrapping about online coupons.

IF there were competing rooms, I feel it's disadvantage the overall community. Where does the everyday poster stick his question? Which room? He trys to place it in the one he feels most appropriate and immediately, he's 'taken sides' and halves (maybe only 10th's if its in Lisa's room  ) his potential response audience due to where it's posted. sure, each will respond in the other's room, but then it'll become either a pi**ing match or a bun fight

then she simply needs to ADD to the room with a similar prolific posting amount that Brian does.
I doubt that will happen though, cause she'd be "giving" away too many "secrets" that she wants to sell

say what we will about Brian, but from what I've seen, he shares for FREE all his ideas...good and bad.

I agree with you about Brian- he just needs to not post 8 times to everyone elses combined posts, especially on his own threads. Take a deep breath bri and let others join in

I know I have posting OCD...God help me.

But is it a MODs job to post all the content of a room. I think not.

I try to get different topics going about marketing but Groupon happens to be the Soup of the day (how do you spell D'jour?)

It's supposed to be everyone with all the ideas...just like any other room.

Go to the rubber room and see how many religious posts get posted.

I don't see the MODs of the clean room and bird room posting such great ideas all the time...no offense....and they shouldn't have to.

I just keep an eye on the room to make sure nobody posts porn or tries to corn hole anyone.

Exactly the point Brian, they are to moderate not be the most prolific poster.

Moderator definition that seems appropriate in world english dictionary.

"a person who monitors the conversations in an on-line chatroom for bad language, inappropriate content, etc"

$90 for 3 rooms and a hall is the highest price cleaner in your parts? That's what I charge for rentals here.
